Rules Clinic
Classroom session from two to four hours depending on composition and needs of the group. for teams or leagues, players, managers and prospective umpires.Field & Classroom evening
Typically, two-hour fieldwork session on plate and one-man mechanics followed by two-hour classroom rules session. For recreational teams or leagues as a pre-season introduction and/or refresher.One-Day or Two-Day Introductory Course
For new umpires in recreational leagues, using material from the BASU Qualifier Course, but not including test. Two-man mechanics covered if required by league. This course is delivered as 50:50 field:classroom.Two-day BASU Qualifier Course
Field and classroom sessions. one-man and two-man mechanics test and practical game session for evaluation (where possible). Attendance certoficate or qualifying grades A, B & C achievable. Graded participants are eligible to apply for BASU membership and be assigned to tournaments and are eligible for further BASU courses. Run on behalf of leagues or regions or by BASU directly.Two Day BASU Refresher Course
Run by BASU for existing members to renew their qualification every two years, rather than re-take full Qualifing Course.
BASU Advanced Course
Three day course covering three-man system, different game scenarios, Crew Chief responsibilities and presentation skills. Co-ordinated with tournaments for practical evaluation.ESF Basic Course
At least one BASU member is nominated to this course, held in Europe each year. Introduction to Fastpitch umpiring through two-man and three-man systems.ESF Advanced Course
Available each year to BASU members with at least one season's European Tournament experience. Includes four-man system techniques. Can, in addition, be accredited by ISF-approved clinician, whereby attendees can achieve ISF standard at Certified or Qualified level, leading to World Cup, World Championship and/or Olympic appointments. A slowpitch version, to prepare European Slowpitch Championships is held in "even" years.
